Three-Terrace Fire Rebuild — Idle, Leeds

A serious fire started in the centre property of a Victorian stone terrace and travelled laterally through the shared roof void and party walls, destroying the entire roof structure across three adjoining houses and gutting the upper floors. EPS Leeds was appointed as a single principal contractor to mobilise immediately, make the terrace safe and rebuild all three homes from foundations to ridge.

Working under one continuous scaffold and a temporary roof, the team rebuilt chimneys and gables in matched stone, installed a brand-new cut timber roof tied into the neighbouring terrace, and completed full first and second-fix internal works including kitchens and bathrooms in each property — all delivered in parallel against three separate insurance claims over roughly sixteen weeks.

Car-Crash Rebuild — Full Scaffold & Façade Stabilisation

A vehicle collided with the front elevation of a stone-built property in Cleckheaton, damaging the principal load-bearing wall, displacing masonry around openings and leaving the façade unsafe to occupants and the public footway directly outside. EPS Leeds attended on an emergency basis to make the building safe, propped the affected openings and worked with the local authority on a permitted footway closure and traffic management plan.

An independent scaffold was then erected to the full height of the property to give safe working access without loading the damaged wall. Stone was carefully taken down, salvaged where possible and rebuilt to match the original elevation — including new lintels, ties and pointing — so the finished façade reads as part of the original streetscape rather than a patch repair.

Emergency structural rescue of a failing roof gable — bespoke scaffold designed to hold the wall, full temporary roof erected, trusses removed and replaced. Read the full case study.

Emergency Roof Truss & Gable Rebuild

A domestic roof had reached the point of structural failure: thrust from the original trusses had pushed the gable wall outwards to the verge of collapse, with visible movement and cracking through the masonry. EPS Leeds was called in on an emergency basis to design and install a bespoke scaffold that physically restrained the gable, stopping any further movement and making the property safe to work on.

Once the wall was held, a full encapsulating temporary roof was erected so the original covering could be stripped and the failed trusses removed under cover. New engineered trusses and structural steels were craned in and tied back into the masonry, the roof was rebuilt, and the loft was lined out and finished as a usable room — converting an emergency call-out into a fully completed loft conversion.
